You may know Amity as the author of Green Gifts Guide, a book and blog dedicated to the art of meaningful celebrations and eco-friendly gift giving. She’s also an attachment parenting mom of two boys, a member of the Healthy Child Healthy World blogger network, and a Humane Society volunteer.
Since having her two sons, Amity has gone from a full-time working mom… to a stay-at-home-mom… to a work-at-home-mom for the past five years. She transferred her background in Journalism, Public Relations, and Sales & Marketing into a marketing firm where she helped small green businesses connect with their ideal audience. Amity wholeheartedly believes that people are more important than things, and she uses her online voice to promote fair treatment of workers, conscious green decision-making, and making a difference – even a small one – every day.
A note from Amity…
To me, sustainable living is a bit like nursing your baby… for something that should come naturally, it’s not always intuitive or easy. Sometimes we just need a little guidance! My journey into Green Living began ten years ago after the birth of our first son. My husband and I quickly realized you can’t ‘hope’ or ‘wish’ your way into a natural lifestyle… you have to make a plan, gather the best information, find or build your support community, and then give yourself a lot of grace.
I’m thrilled about this opportunity to nurture and grow the wonderful community of green-minded parents. I remember how important my group of green mom friends was during those new mommy days. Green Child Magazine provides that same support in an online version to new families, and that makes this one of the most fulfilling jobs there is!
