Hailed as “good for a green mama’s soul,” Green Child has grown into a resource valued by parents who care about bringing simplicity, compassion, social responsibility, and instinctual intelligence back to parenting.
We’re honored to provide the natural parenting tools you need, the opportunity to build your community, an expert source for products you can trust, and a place you can feel safe reaching out for support – all in a no-judgment zone.
You’ll hear from a variety of experts in the green living and natural parenting space. In fact, Green Child has hosted 800+ outstanding contributors from all over the world.
Meet the Green Child Team
Amity has been an advocate for the environment since childhood, but her passion for real foods and natural health began when she became a parent in 2001. She joined the Green Child team as a contributor in 2011. When she was asked to take over an editor role, she immediately agreed. Green Child felt like the perfect blend of her growing interest in green living and conscious parenting, her Journalism degree, and her background in corporate sales and marketing (working with retailers like Target and JCPenney).
“I strongly believe in the Triple Bottom Line concept – People, Planet, Profits. Working with our brilliant team and our advertising partners gives us the opportunity to promote healthier products, the fair treatment of workers, conscious green decision-making, and making a difference in the lives of families every day.”
In her free time, you’ll either find Amity on a baseball field with her husband and two sons, volunteering at the Humane Society, or planning her next paddleboarding trip.
Cai is a health and nutrition enthusiast and mother. She started Copy-Kids as a passion project to encourage young children to eat healthier. Joining Green Child dovetailed perfectly with her expanding mission to help moms improve whole-family health.
A social media fanatic, and the superwoman behind our highly engaged Facebook page, Cai loves the opportunity to build community, connect people and causes, foster and meaningful conversations around positive change. She’s also involved in several green living organizations on the west coast.
As a mother of three, educator, librarian, and writer, Megan loves sharing her skills with the Green Child audience in a variety of ways. She enjoys every facet of educating readers, be it by reviewing books and apps to contributing articles to editing the final product. “My favorite aspect of GCM is its genuine relatability, providing thoroughly researched, achievable green life ideas in a supportive space for parents of all walks of life.”
Megan has blogged about parenthood, simplified living, and much more at Meg, Acting Out since 2010, and has recently began freelance writing. In her free time, she enjoys spending quality time with her family, reading, attempting yoga, watching classic movies, and participating in community theater (where she also happened to meet her husband).
Founder of ShambalaKids, Mellisa is on a mission to teach self esteem, stress management, and goal attainment to children everywhere. She’s the author of Guided Imagery Work with Kids, for teachers and professionals and Imagine That!, a guided imagery storybook for children. “As parents, we are given an amazing gift. Each day spent with a child is an opportunity to teach love, kindness, compassion and inner strength. I feel truly blessed to be able to use my gifts to help families.”
Mellisa lives in New Jersey with her two sons and enjoys meditation, fitness, personal development and of course, helping families! She loves to cook healthy food, read incessantly, go on spontaneous adventures, and constantly challenge herself to bring more joy and fun into life!
Carolina believes every mother should raise her kids by listening to her Mama Instincts – a motto she lives by and the name of her popular blog. She empowers mothers who feel a pull towards alternative parenting styles and a more natural way of living but that want to do this without losing their minds, without going to any extreme, and on their own terms.
She’s the mother of two girls and is an advocate of positive parenting practices which focus on raising children with both love and respect. Carolina inspires mothers to tap into their power of intuition, enabling them to live their best lives and raise their children in a way that is right for their unique family situation. She is also passionate about educating parents on health and wellness topics so that parents can make informed decisions.

Magazine Designer: Kaitlyn Kirby
As the founder of Mini Magazine, Kaitlyn Kirby made a career for herself in the parenting industry nearly 10 years ago, fully immersing herself in the latest and greatest surrounding pregnancy and birth, baby gear and emerging brands, and her favorite of all, interviewing inspiring mothers. Now with a toddler of her own, Kaitlyn is even more inspired to continue creating helpful and uplifting content that makes other mothers as happy as it does her.
Kaitlyn has a background in Journalism and first learned to design magazines in college, where she initially had the idea to begin her own. She is thrilled to bring her passion for magazine design to Green Child and package all of its expertly-curated green life tips, stories, recipes, meditations, and more into a beautiful and fun-to-read publication.
Amanda has worked in blogging and design for the past 10 years. Her three children inspire her passion for healthy living and all that it encompasses. She has worked on three digital magazines, product packaging, and cloth diaper print design. She now spends most of her blogging time at Put A Cup In It, a resource where she, along with our friend Kimberly Rosas, advocate and educate about nontoxic menstrual products.
