Kids’ Guided Meditation Script for Self Confidence at School
Between new lessons, busy schedules, and social pressures, school can sometimes chip away at a child’s confidence. This guided meditation helps kids feel calm, grounded, and more self-assured. Mindfulness techniques like meditation offer ways to approach each day with ease and positivity.

Mindfulness helps children and teens relieve stress and anxiety, improve self-esteem, feel great (mind, body, and spirit) and develop a positive mental attitude at school and at home.
Simply read the following meditation script slowly and in a calm voice before bedtime or in the morning before school.

Guided Meditation for Self Confidence at School
Let’s get comfortable and focus on our breath.
Breathe in very slowly and then, breathe out. Continue breathing calmly and evenly for five long breaths. This gets our bodies very relaxed and feeling good.
As you breathe in, allow your tummy to inflate like a balloon. Fill up your tummy with your breath.
Imagine the air going down into your tummy has a color.
I wonder what color it is.
Exhale now, and feel how your tummy gets smaller and smaller, until it’s flat again. The magical thing about breathing this way is that anytime you feel stressed, upset or even a little nervous. It feels so good and it signals our bodies that everything is okay, no matter what is going on around us.
Now, imagine yourself walking into school. You feel calm and steady, just like your breath. Picture yourself smiling as you head to your classroom. Feel your backpack resting easily on your shoulders.
See yourself sitting at your desk. Feel yourself being friendly with all of the kids around you. Notice how confident you feel, even if you don’t know everything right away – you’re learning, and that’s exactly what school is for.
Imagine playing or talking with your friends at recess. You feel included, happy, and relaxed, knowing that you belong.
If there’s ever a time during the day when you feel unsure, you can take one deep, slow belly breath. That breath is your reminder that you are safe, capable, and not alone.
You can always ask for help, and there will always be people who care about you – teachers, friends, or family.
Each morning, before school begins, you can set an intention for your day. That simply means deciding how you’d like to feel and what you’d like to focus on. Maybe your intention is: “Today I will try my best.” Or “Today I will be kind to myself and others.”
Take one more deep breath now, filling up your tummy like a balloon, and then let it go slowly.
When you’re ready, open your eyes and stretch your body. Feel proud of yourself for practicing calm and confidence. Know that you can come back to your breath and these feelings anytime you need them — at school, at home, or anywhere you go.
After Reading the Meditation for School
If you’re reading this to your child at bedtime, ideally they are asleep or well on their way.
If you’re reading it at the start of the school day, talk about how life often lives up (or down) to our expectations. So if we expect to have a good day, that’s usually what we get.
For kids who are really having a hard time settling into school, be patient and keep trying mindfulness tools and nervous system regulating techniques. You can also find the free printable PDF of this school confidence meditation script and 60+ more guided meditations when you subscribe below.
