Spring Meditation Script
Lie down and allow your body to become very comfortable. Close your eyes now and begin to pay attention to how your breath flows in and out of your body.
Doesn’t it feel soft and calming?
As you exhale, imagine letting go of everything that happened during the day.
Allow yourself to release any parts of your day that felt troubling, frustrating, or worrisome. If anything is still on your mind, you can always share it later.
{Pause to see if anything comes up that your child would like to share.}
Now, breathe in a feeling of peacefulness. Visualize little bubbles of air containing relaxation and calm traveling to all parts of your body and filling it up completely. You feel so calm and relaxed right now.
Spring is coming soon. This new and fresh season is a time when the earth wakes up and makes room for new life. Remember that you are growing and changing each day. Every season brings new experiences, new feelings, and new parts of you to discover.
Think about how during the winter months certain flowers seem to disappear, resting quietly beneath the soil, only to return in the spring. Now imagine yourself as a flower, ready to wake up and grow. You’ve been resting all winter in a cozy place, tucked safely in the earth.
The earth has protected you all through the quiet, cold months.
As spring approaches, gentle rain falls and soaks into the soil around you. You absorb the water slowly. It refreshes you and softly wakes you up.
You notice the warmth of the sun above you. You can almost feel its light. With time and patience, you begin to push upward through the soil, growing little by little.
You stretch toward the sunlight, becoming the bright, beautiful flower you were meant to be.
This is much like life. We try new things, learn new skills, and discover more about ourselves each day. We grow in our own way and in our own time.
Think about something new you’d like to try, learn, or get better at. What feels interesting to you right now?
Focus on that for a moment and imagine yourself learning, practicing, and growing.
{Pause to allow your child to imagine.}
See yourself doing whatever it is that you wish to do. See it your mind as already being real and true. Notice how it feels in your body.
Imagine people who care about you smiling and encouraging you as you grow. You feel proud, supported, and happy.
Feel your heart warm as you notice how much you’re learning and changing. Just as a flower comes back stronger each and every spring, so do you!
Take one more slow, gentle breath in… and let it out.
You’ve done a wonderful job relaxing and imagining today. When you’re ready, give your body a big stretch, wiggle your fingers and toes, and slowly open your eyes.
After the Meditation
If your child is still awake, use this time to talk about anything they noticed or felt. Keep the conversation light, curious, and calm.
You might ask:
- What did your flower look like?
- What new thing are you excited to try this season?
- How did your body feel while we were breathing?
