Fall Guided Meditation for Relaxation: Autumn Leaf on a Gentle Breeze
Autumn is a season of change. Just like the trees let go of their leaves, sometimes we need to pause, take a breath, and let go of the things we don’t need anymore.
In this autumn meditation script, you’ll help your child imagine themselves as one of those autumn leaves, drifting on a gentle breeze.

All of us – including kids – need to find a way to take a moment for ourselves, but sometimes it’s easier said than done. One of the best ways to find calm in a busy day is with a simple guided meditation for relaxation. Within minutes, you or your child can find peace and refreshment.
One of the many benefits of meditation for kids is that it helps them develop mindfulness from an early age. These scripts from Mellisa Dormoy of Shambala Kids are wonderful tools to help kids deal with anxiety.
This autumn equinox meditation script is also one of many meaningful ways to celebrate the first day of fall with kids.
Read this script to yourself to find the right pacing before reading it aloud to your child, pausing to let the words and feelings sink in.
In this Fall guided meditation for relaxation, your child will feel like they’re floating along like a leaf on a breeze… feeling weightless and free. It’s a beautiful way to be mindful of the season of letting go.

Fall Guided Meditation for Relaxation
Whenever you want to calm yourself, all you have to do is close your eyes and focus on your breath. Let’s practice that right now together.
Five – Breathe in deeply. Let your breath go as you relax your head, neck, and shoulders.
Four – Take in another breath and exhale as you feel your chest and arms release.
Three – Now, soften your tummy area as you breathe in again. Let it fill up so full and hold for just a second or two. Then release all of that air through your mouth or nose, whichever is most comfortable.
Two – Breathe in big. Let it all go and feel your legs become heavy and loose now.
One – Fill your lungs up once more as you let your whole body completely relax. Then slowly let all of the breath out once more.
Now, imagine yourself outside in the beautiful autumn air. Pretend for a moment that you are the wind. You glide peacefully along on this sunny, pleasant day. The air smells crisp all around you.
Along your journey some colorful leaves drift along beside you. How wonderful to feel the connection to these unique, beautiful autumn leaves! To know you are not separate but that you are one with everything you see.
Now imagine changing into a leaf floating on the wind. Feel yourself as a beautiful, soft leaf bending back and forth with the wind, riding very far and dancing in the wind. You do this so beautifully; gliding so gracefully.
You are letting the wind carry you where it wants.
Think of how the tree just let go of that leaf. Can you think of times when it feels good to just let things go?
Now again, as the leaf, you turn over and look at the big sky. How vast and open it is.
In this magical adventure, you can become anything you see.
Become the bright blue sky now. You cover the whole earth. Feel the clouds move all about you, floating along as the wind moves them gently.
Feel how large and protective you are. You cover everything… protecting the animals, people, trees, and even that gently floating leaf.
Within the sky now, become aware of one particular cloud among the others. Become that cloud. now. Feel the softness, the beauty, the lightness of your cloud body.
You’re like a big fluffy pillow!
Feel yourself as the cloud. Move and change. shape as you want. You feel wonderfully light and happy just floating and changing into any shape you like.
How magnificent you are in all your states!
From one leaf to the entire sky, you are part of everything and everything is part of you.
And when you have troubles or worries, you can let them go and drift peacefully into a happy state – just like that leaf. You can remember how wonderful it felt to float as lightly as a leaf… free and cared for by the gentle wind and sky.
And just like the tree let you go, you can remember that sometimes it feels good to let go of your own worries. You can simply release them, just as the leaf lets go and drifts along on the breeze.
Now, start to slowly drift back down to earth, back down to your bed, becoming yourself once again. You can open your eyes if you wish, or you can continue your journey into dreamland.
